In addition to dentistry UMC provides comprehensive primary care through its medical, behavioral health, and pharmacy staff.
- UMC maintains a Neighbor-to-Neighbor fund that was created to help members of the west end obtain medically necessary patient support when no other funds are available. Its vision is to help UMC provide the best comprehensive care possible for our communities and reduce barriers that UMC’s patients may face in receiving care. - UMC has been designated a Patient Centered Medical Home by the National Committee for Quality Assurance every year since 2015.
- Nationally there are roughly 1,400 FQHC’s under the control of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Yearly, HRSA measures each center’s quality and ranks them based on these results. UMC was ranked in the top 10% nationally in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
- UMC participates in the Medicare Shared Savings Program, a value-based program, where results are based on quality related Medicare patient outcomes. We are grouped with 20 other Colorado FQHC’s, some of whom are the largest primary care providers in Colorado. We were deemed to have the best patient outcomes for diabetes (A1c) and hypertension among this group in 2024 and 2025. In 2025 this network improved care for 11,829 Medicare beneficiaries. Together, we, with this group, provide care to 857,000 Coloradans annually.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and dental care will cost
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
- You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
- Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
- If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
- Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
