Uncompahgre Medical Center believes that care for the whole patient is essential to achieve optimal health and wellness.

We provide treatment for general substance use disorders through integrated visits with our behavioral health provider.  In additional to substance use disorders integrated visits assist with other patient concerns: such as diabetes, smoking cessation, weight loss, grief, depression, anxiety and a variety of other mental health issues.  UMC recognizes that health and wellness of our patients and our community is a team effort.  At UMC, this team consists of the medical provider, the patient and family, a behavioral health provider, a dental provider, a pharmacist, the care manager, and a medical assistant. Appointments for patients of all ages available.

Insurance & Payments

For acute care (sickness, minor injury) and emergencies, yes. Otherwise, please call for availability of appointments.

Yes, depending on provider availability and severity of the condition. Appointments are preferred.

If you are having a medical emergency you need to call 911.  UMC does have a nursing service that answers calls after hours.  Call our phone number 970-327-4233 and follow the prompts to talk to a live nurse.  The nursing service can help to determine if there is a need for emergency care.

Yes. We have digital x-ray capacity.

Yes, UMC has a female MD and several female PAs available on a full-time basis. We recommend making an appointment.

Yes, up to the first 18 weeks of pregnancy, and then we help establish your care with your OB of choice. We also provide well baby check-ups and OB follow-ups with a provider.

You may qualify for a discount through our sliding fee program based on your income, or you may qualify for assistance through state and federal programs. Your ability to pay should not be a barrier to receiving the care you need. Our Certified Application Counselors can help determine eligibility for assistance, including sliding scale co-pays. Payment plans are available as well.

We accept most types of private health insurance. And we accept Medicaid, CHP+ and Medicare. If there is a question of acceptance, we can verify for you.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.

Yes, the Front Desk is available to you during normal business hours to assist with any questions regarding your bill. Please keep in mind that payments at the time of service are estimates. From time to time, adjustments are made based on the services provided. If an adjustment is made, you will either receive a bill or a refund for the difference. Please contact the front desk at (970) 327-4233 with any questions or concerns regarding your bill.

UMC is a non-profit, independent medical center managed by a community Board of Directors, which means that the community makes the decisions regarding service.

We work closely with St. Mary’s Hospital (Grand Junction) and Montrose Memorial Hospital (Montrose), Delta County Memorial Hospital (Delta) and Community Hospital (Grand Junction).

UMC is 65 miles from the Montrose Memorial Hospital and 130 miles from St. Mary’s. Air service is available to St. Mary’s for emergencies.
